Surveying involves examining and recording various terrain and project features to develop a plan or analyze the project. It's an essential practice that a contractor carries out before and during a project's construction. A Survey Engineer helps support the surveying crews and project teams by collecting data, providing layout sketches and computer-aided design, interpreting and calculating data points and coordinating information from field measurements with the plans.

• Assist the construction site's surveyor with layout requirements.
• Computer Aided Design – Use of computer aided design to integrate design plans with construction plans, modeling and as-built information.
• Survey Technical Support – provide survey layout information based on the design plans
• Drone Surveys and Mapping Integration
• Field Quantity Measurements
• Plan Developments – Temporary traffic controls, layout sketches, construction details.
• Adjusts and operates surveying instruments, including the theodolite and electronic distance-measuring equipment.
• Operate other surveying tools and equipment such as drones, rovers, and other GPS devices.
• Use computer-aided graphic software to create sketches and update plans such as AUTOCADD, Bluebeam, Propeller, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Excellent knowledge and skills using computer programs and applications including MicroStation, Propeller, Bluebeam, MS Excel, MS Word
• Proficient knowledge of GPS surveying and GPS guided heavy construction equipment, drones, survey equipment and related hardware and software.
• Excellent learning skills for construction survey and construction means and methods.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work on construction project sites and access project elements and work zones during various phases of construction including elevated areas.
• Proficient knowledge of construction safety requirements.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• College degree preferably a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Surveying and Mapping.
• FAA Drone License
• At least one year of heavy/civil construction experience in surveying or as a CADD technician.
• OSHA 30 Course, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver's license
